Can I Trade In Old iPhone and Get Credit Paid Toward Used-Recertified iPhone

Is there a way to EASILY get Apple trade-in credit applied to purchase of a certified-refurbished iPhone THS SEASON - December 2024??

I want to replace my wife's iPhone (battery health ~ 85%, 1 year s/w support left) with an Apple-certified refurbished iPhone. The Apple trade-in process does NOT show up in the certified-refurbished purchase process now. Apple trade-in exists and would give us a value on an Apple Gift card (totally separate from our purchase). Looks like we'd have to be without a phone for at least 2 weeks to apply the received Apple Gift card to the certified refurb iPhone purchase, assuming the model/config is still available then.

Is there a way to couple Apple trade-in to Used-Recertified iPhone purchases this year (Dec 2024)?
