OneDrive not syncing MacMini M4 - OS X Sequoia

System Information:

- OneDrive Version: 24.221.1103.0003

- macOS: Sequoia 15.1.1

- OneDrive Folder Location: External Drive (APFS Volume)

- MacMini M4 2024

Issue:

"You must restart OneDrive to continue syncing this location."

- Additional Symptoms: Sub-Folders and files within are not loading. I can only navigate and open them if I quit OneDrive (all my files are downloaded).

Troubleshooting Steps Tried:

1. Restarted OneDrive

2. Restarted the computer

3. Checked for updates (OneDrive and macOS)

4. Unlinked and re-linked my Mac

5. Unlinked, uninstalled, and reinstalled OneDrive

6. Re-linked OneDrive

7. Followed instructions from here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/fix-onedrive-sync-problems-on-mac-af3012d7-13ec-4ac9-bbb1-ebcd2a0cd756

(Note: Step 2 not possible to follow in Mac OS X Sequoia)

Additional Note:

Everything was working before I moved several files to my OneDrive account. The issue started afterward.

Solved!

I followed partially your steps. Since my Mac is new and doesn't have much cache to clean, I skipped Onyx. Instead, I did a full removal of OneDrive using App Cleaner to delete all traces, as you suggested. Then, I reinstalled OneDrive from the App Store (instead of downloading directly from Microsoft this time). This solved the issue.

Thank you very much, BDAqua, for your time and patience in helping the community.

I'm afraid to recommend this but out of other ideas...

Get Onyx & deep clean all the caches & restart...

https://www.titanium-software.fr/en/onyx.html

1st restart will not be full speed as fresh caches are being rebuilt.

Or get App Cleaner & Uninstaller, which is my goto cleanup app…

Mac Cleaner Pro...

https://nektony.com/mac-cleaner-pro

AppCleaner…

https://freemacsoft.net/appcleaner/

Then reinstall OneDrive.
