Removing the Mail App (not Delete) without losing email address settings?

I need to make space to update to iOS 18. I see Mail still takes up 12.6 GB even after deleting all messages etc. If I Remove the Mail app (Not Delete it) will I have to re-set all the internet settings passwords etc for each email address I have when I re-install the Mail app?

iPhone 12, iOS 17

I doubt that if you've deleted all the relevant mail - confirm by signing into your mail account via your provider's website and make sure that the messages have indeed been erased - that deleting the Mail app will remove much more. Perhaps something here will help you clear enough space:

If not, you can try updating using a computer. That requires less space than does an over-the-air update.

I run my own internet server with several domains each controlled by a C-Panel. The domain in question has numerous email clients and addresses. However, for this particular iPhone there are only 2 email addresses set up. I have deleted all messages including the bin and according to my C-Panel I can see those 2 addresses have used up less than 400 MB. So it looks to me the iPhone Mail app itself uses about 11GB.

Anyway, my original question has not been answered. According to Apple, there are 2 choices for dealing with an app. 1/ "Remove" which will remove the app from the phone but upon re-installing will allow the documents and data to be recovered. 2/ "Delete" which will completely delete the app and all of its associated data and documents.

My question was, "If I use option 1/ i.e. REMOVE will it upon re-installing, recover not just the messages/documents but will it also recover the internet connection protocols/settings/passwords etc.??

Thank you!

My phone has 2 options REMOVE or DELETE. Not OFFLOAD! In any event I will reply with the same information I have just sent to Varjak Paw.
