I try to buy music on iTunes with my apple account balance. At first it works and everything but when it confirms after it says to update my billing information. I don’t know why it doesn’t work.

You do not always have to have one, but if you are encountering one of those situations then you have no option but to enter a valid payment method if you wish to continue your purchase. The payment method may not be charged if you also have account balance or the item is free, but the payment method has to be present. You might even be able to remove it again immediately once Apple has seen it.

Thank you for this response. This has helped. But a message for Apple ....Pleeeeease, for the love of all things holy FIX THIS. This is why everyone has moved to Spotify. Using iTunes is absolutely painful. From adding credit to using the credit that I paid for ....why does it have to be so flipping hard???? WHY do I have to put in a password on EVERY purchase on my own **** device????? This is taking me forever.
