Apple Podcast Family Sharing

My family has apple family sharing so we see each other's podcast libraries which is fine - we like it that way BUT the problem is that we do not each have our own individual listening progress in the podcasts. So, if I listen to the ABC Podcast and get to episode 6, then my spouse shows that she is on episode 6 as well (my progress is her progress), but she might only be on episode 3. Which also means that when a new podcast episode comes out and we are notified, if I listen to it first, her podcasts no longer show it as new. Is there any way to prevent this from happening? It seems we should each have our own individual progress even though we share a library? Thank you!

In theory, yes. We each use our own account on our devices - but we all share the payment apple ID. And, when you go to apple music on each phone (for instance), we all appear to be logged into the same apple ID as the payment apple ID (which also pays for apple one premier family). There does not seem to be a way to change this.

Curious: Are podcasts and music tied together (in terms of login)?

Thank you for your help. I see you out here a lot helping folks.
