Addding Secure Notes to Keychain Access

On Sequoia 15.1.1 it seems that it is no longer possible to add secure notes in Key Access; only password items can be added! :(

Did I miss something in the macOS development?

How to migrate your existing secure notes?
This transition means that you will be opening your existing secure notes using Keychain Access, and copying the text contents (⌘A⌘C) and pasting into newly-created Notes app notes (⌘V).

It is actually not as simple as Apple suggests, so I will remind you of the necessary steps:

1. copy the title of a Keychain Secure Note
2. create a new note in Note.app
3. paste the Title
4. copy the text of the secure note
5. paste the text
6. add the padlock to the note
7. close the padlock on the note
8. repeat steps 1. to 8. for the 214 secure notes I have in Keychain Access

Why didn't the Sequoia installer do this during the upgrade from Sonoma like it did with passwords?
What are you saying..?

Sorry but your Question is best asked to Apple

Ah ah, the whole development team was involved in adding Tapback to Messages.

I see, I'll ask Craig to lend me one of his brilliant resources involved in Tapback to carry out this exciting task..

I was confused by this 'upgrade change' but I'm now quite happy that the old keychain secure notes are not accessible via icloud. From a security pov I'd rather my most important information was not shared via icloud.

The confusion is in the title: a Note that is made secure but kept on icloud; a secure note kept in the old keychain app. These are two different things but are being confused.

It would help if Apple would make the change more explicit - Passkeys are fine but can still be accessed ( along with all your icloud data ) via a stolen phone & password.

Add or remove accounts in Notes on Mac

If you keep notes in internet accounts—for example, iCloud, Google, Yahoo, or AOL—you can add those accounts to Notes on your Mac. If you have a Managed Apple Account from your school or business, you may also be able to use it to store your notes.

➡️ If you don’t keep notes in an internet account, you can still store notes only on your Mac. ⬅️
