Screentime Whatsapp iOS 18.1.1 ignores downtime

My daughter’s iPhone (12) on iOS 18.1.1 blocks all apps effectively except for WhatsApp (24.23.82) after downtime has kicked in. She can use WhatsApp unlimitedly since both her iPhone and the parent iPad (iOS 18.1.1) are on 18.1.1


Attempts to resolve include:


  • I have rebooted all devices.
  • Disabled and reenabled screentime.
  • WhatsApp is NOT in the always allowed list.
  • WhatsApp screentime has NOT been manually overwritten on the device itself.


What else could be blocking downtime family sharing Center rules of screentime / downtime?


I frequently have glitches around iOS upgrades it seems.
