Unable to open a Pages file on iPhone/iPad

I've prepared a large file of mostly photos and some text in Pages and "printed" it as a PDF. I want to send the PDF to some friends for comments and emailed to my self first. I can open it on my desktop but not on the iPad or iPhone. I thought it might be too large so divided it but nothing doing. The people I sent it to also couldn't open it. I've been doing the same thing for some while now and have never encountered this sort of problem. What am I doing wrong or what's happened?

Are you exporting it correctly? Please see this on how to export a pages document on iPad to PDF

  1. Open the document, then tap .
  2. Tap Export, then tap a format:
    • PDF: These files can be opened and sometimes edited with applications like Preview and Adobe Acrobat. If you added image, drawing, audio or video descriptions for assistive technology (for example, VoiceOver), they’re automatically exported. If your document contains smart annotations or comments and you want to include them in the PDF, turn on the corresponding option, then tap Export in the top-right corner of Layout Options.
