13” MacBook Pro early 2015
2.7 GHz dual core intel core i5
8gb 1867 MHz DDR3
I want to be able to do the usual internet browsing , word processing , teams calls , watch stuff , and ideally play things like sims 4 etc
my current Mac was able to play sims but the fans were working hard, probably wasn’t the smoothest game play
any advice please?

Pretty much any current Mac will handle that type of workload fine. It's not particularly demanding for current Apple Silicon Macs.
Pick one that fits your budget. Go for more RAM over CPU.
If you pick one with 256GB of storage, make sure you have an external drive to complement that.
I'm not sure what the status of Sims 4 is, as far as there being an Apple-Silicon-native version. There is a Sims 4 system requirements page on the EA site that refers to Mac OS X 10.11 (El Capitan), but not to any recent version of macOS, and not to Apple Silicon processors. Sims 4 for Windows is on the Steam site, but I don't see any sign of Sims 4 for Mac being there.
