Recovering iPhone Contacts Linked to Exchange

I recently lost access to my university email address and exchange account. When the account was deleted off my iPhone, I lost all the contacts entered over the past 10 years. I did not realize that my contacts were only being saved to the exchange account/server and not being saved on my phone or iCloud. I reached out to my university and they were able to give me temporary access back to the account. However, upon logging in on my phone, my contacts did not return. Is there anyway I can recover those contacts? I have iCloud set up but it looks like I did not have the setting on that automatically backs up contacts. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

iPhone 11, iOS 18

Try logging into your university exchange account on the web. You may be able to export your contacts from there.

You would have to export them on a computer, then import them into icloud or another cloud/email system or re-enter the contacts manually.
