Does Apple extend Trade-In Returns during the holidays?

Do Apple extend the trade in returns window over the festive period? Makes it tricky to buy Xmas presents in advance and return within 14 days especially if the gift is a surprise!

Request a gift receipt. Assuming you’re referring to iPhone, correct? Do not activate the iPhone until you want the return period to begin. Are you buying online or at an Apple Store?

To my knowledge, the date of activation has nothing to do with the return date. Apple starts the clock the day you receive your new iPhone.

To BevC8: I would call Apple and ask as it's not stated whether the return of the trade is extended or not. I suspect it's not. Last year, what I recommended to one person in this situation was to put a photo of the phone in a box and give it to the gift recipient, then the day after Christmas go buy the phone or order, just a couple days before Christmas and put the order confirmation in a box and wrap it, then you won't have to worry about the return date at all.

I agree for online purchases. They have very little if any leeway in returning an item. My understanding is that some models of iPhone come pre activated by some carrier financing programs. A return might include carrier required fees. This is why I suggested she call and receive clarification on the issue.

In the contact Apple for clarification, I did as well, so we agree on that!

An activated iPhone creates return issues depending on how device was purchased and if financing was involved and who financed it. A return might include fees from carrier, Apple Store or online support can’t waive and eSIM might be locked. These will certainly be areas of concern when purchasing online.
