new feature in Photos

The latest version of “Photos” now shows a ‘Key Photo’ for each album. It appears to act as a slideshow that occupies the top half of the phone screen and rotates among the photos within the associated album. This is an annoying, useless, and feature. How do I turn it OFF?? How do I adjust the settings so that when I open an album, I see only the thumbnails of each photo in the album?

Meanwhile, if you swipe up, you can move the photos to the top of the screen. If you tap on a picture in the album, you can swipe through the full sized photos.
