Of itself, USB-C merely defines the physical connector - and not the services provided by the host device or the cable specification.
By example, while supported by your iPad Pro, USB 4 / Thunderbolt 3 and DisplayPort are not supported by all iPad models that feature USB-C. If your monitor supports DP Alt Mode over USB-C (i.e. DisplayPort), you can drive the connected monitor over a standard USB-C cable. For ThunderBolt peripherals and monitors, you would explicitly require a USB-C Thunderbolt cable.
Thank you very much. I found the specs a little ambiguous in that they referenced USB-C but not full function 3.1.
I’m considering a portable monitor that requires full function USB C 3.1 to use with one cord.
