Did the sound of the AirPods Max USB-C version get updated vs the old tuning present on the Lightning version?

Recently SoundGuys.com has released an update to their review of the AirPods Max, showing a frequency response measurement that looks meaningfully different than the prior measurements from both themselves as well as Crinacle/Oratory1990. I am attaching below the difference between SoundGuys' original AirPods Max measurement and their updated measurement released this November.

Has the frequency response tuning of the AirPods Max been updated? It seems it may have been changed—for the better, IMO—in a recent firmware update to exclusively the USB-C version of the AirPods Max, but I'd like any clarification anyone can give on if this change is indeed real, why it was made, and how someone can make sure they have the updated sound profile if there was indeed an update.

Thank you!
