MacOS Sequoia - Airdrop not showing in finder sidebar

I recently upgraded the OS on my M2 15" MacBook Air to Sequoia 15.1.1.

All running fine till yesterday, when I noticed Airdrop icon was not showing in the finder sidebar. I went to finder settings and spotted the Airdrop option was unticked (which I hadn't done), so went to tick it back on and it immediately unticks. (Video below).

I can still send and receive files via Airdrop, but the quick sidebar link will not switch on to appear in the finder window.

Have restarted my Mac, as well as restarting WIFI and bluetooth, nothing has sorted this out.

Is this a glitch with Sequoia or are there some options I can try to get it to switch back on?

Thanks

MacBook Air 15″, macOS 15.1

Although this does not solve the issue as such, a quick shortcut to open AirDrop is Command-Shift-R. This is even faster than clicking.

There is a chance that Finder preferences may have become corrupted, and this can lead to Finder behaving incorrectly and unexpectedly in differen ways.

You can try deleting the preferences and seeing if that helps.

In Finder, press Command-Shift-G and paste

~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist

drag the file to your desktop, then Force relaunch Finder (command-option-escape, select Finder in the list, click Relaunch).
