Using an iPhone 16 running iOS 18.1.1, each time I open an app the green light to the left of the camera comes on for a few seconds. Some of the apps don’t use the camera at all. Sometimes it does the same thing when unlocking.
A hard restart stops it but only for a short while.
The user manual says it’s the camera that’s been accessed by an app, but it’s not telling me which app, only camera.

You can see the app(s) using the camera if you open Control Center, tap just beneath Dynamic Island (notch). It will then display information similar to the screenshot below.
The issue is no longer there. I’m not sure if it is an intermittent problem or resolved itself. I have not done any updates or changed any settings. Neither have I done anything deliberately to try to remove it.

When I was experiencing the issue I did check that in the control center. All I could see was the camera app had been accessing the camera, even if I hadn’t used the camera app or was opening a completely unrelated app that doesn’t access the camera.
I’m not sure how or why it’s no longer showing, but if it does I will re-check.
