iMessage E2E encryption

per credible news source there has been a massive cyber attack labeled, Salt Typhoon.

Smartphone users are being urged to use alt forms of text messaging that are encrypted. My understanding is that iMessage to iMessage is already deeply encrypted and therefore pretty impervious to hackers.
