How to set up different notifications sound for an individual apps.

I want to set up different sounds for individual apps, and follow the directions provided, such as settings and notifications, scroll down to the desired app, and click on the sound button to list different sound options. My problem is the sound button is only off/on. How do I get my sound button to show the lists?
