Apple Approval Notice

We have noticed that your Apple iCloud id was recently used at "APPLE STORE - CA" for $143.95, paid by Apple Pay Pre Authorization. Also some suspicious sign in request and apple pay activation request detected. That looks like suspicious to us. In order to maintain the security and privacy of your account we have placed those request on hold. If NOT you? talk to an Apple Representative. Failing may lead to auto debit and charge will not be reversed. Call +1 83******8 immediately to cancel this charge.

It’s a scam. Don’t click on anything. Delete the message. I get three or four of those every week. Ignore them.

ActiveArmor is a service provided by AT&T and all it can do is help with spam. There is nothing that will eliminate it completely. At times these spam blockers can give users a false sense of security as they believe if they get a message it must be legitimate and will divulge personal information. It's your choice if you want to continue paying AT&T for that service.

The best spam blocker is you. Just use an email or mail message as information only and never call a number or use a link to provide any of your credentials. All information provided in an email/message can be acted on using a trusted source. For example, a charge message to your account by Apple can be verified by viewing your purchase history on your device. Any message that claims to be from your bank can be verified by calling the bank with the known number or going to the legitimate website of the bank yourself and not through a link.

These messages are due to the multiple cyber attacks that phone carriers have experienced. Hackers are harvesting millions of numbers and emails and just mass texting and emailing hoping they can catch a few suckers

Okay, take a breath. These scams existed long before Salt Typhoon and most likely have nothing to do with it. They don't even need to "harvest" numbers. They randomly generate them. Most of them will be junk but there is essentially no incremental cost.
