Unable to send verification code to Hong Kong phone number for Japanese Apple ID

If you want to have an account in the region of Japan I am afraid that you also need to provide a Japanese phone number in order to create this account.

Apple does not say you must use a telephone number from the same country but since international calls often cost extra it is quite possible they will insist you have a Japan based telephone number. I also know that some things relating to China are different so that could be a consideration.

Note that you can only use one account at a time on an Apple mobile device and you may find restrictions placed upon switching between accounts frequently.

I have the same problem with my Apple ID account used for development (my private account use passkey to login). Previously it worked fine, but now I can not get this confirmation code...has 2 chat support sessions and even 1 call with support first time in my life... And the outcome was to initiate password reset procedure and use another phone number to see what will happen (even when my email still under my control, I know password and phone does receive SMS and calls). But now I can see that the problem on the Apple side as there are too many people with the same problem starting from Thursday-Friday. But Apple status still all green...
