Why is my iPhone not showing the latest software update?

i want to install new app but app store say update version 16 and after i go to update section here not showing update

Do you have an iPhone 6s, 6s Plus, SE (1st generation), 7, or 7 Plus?

You can update all of those iPhones to the latest release of iOS 15 – currently iOS 15.8.3.

You cannot update any of those iPhones to iOS 16 or higher.

If you have one of those iPhones, that message is completely normal and expected. iOS 15.8.3 is the most "up to date" version that is compatible with your iPhone.

Sorry. Your phone is not compatible with anything later than ios 15. If you want to run apps that require a higher version of ios, you will need a new phone.

What iPhone do you have? The hardware in the iPhone may not be compatible with iOS 16 and higher.
