Sorry, but that’s not possible. Have you contacted the support team for LibreLink. They’ll be your best source of information on when they’ll have an update to their app so it supports iOS 18.x.x moving forward.
Sorry, downgrading the operating system is not supported.
Abbott has been having issues with their glucose meters since iOS 16 and they don't seem to be in any hurry to fix it.
You might try contacting them and see if they have any advice.
Their website says will not work on anything past 17.5.1. Tech support at Libre claimed they have not reconfigured their app to work with anything past 17.5.1 yet as of 8:00am 12/05/2024
The doctor prescribed them in 2014, they still work fine. The issue is the app, not the sensors or the reader. The Reader still works. The doctor can retrieve my BS (Blood Sugar) readings from my phone app while I'm sitting at home. The reader cannot do that, it does not have any type of wireless connect ability.
But I truly thank you for trying to help.
I contacted Libre first. They are only compatible up to 17.5.1. looks like up to a year before they are good for 18.1.1. By then Apple will have moved on. Considering a used Android till I figure out what to do. Sucks, haven't had a non-Apple phone, computer, tablet since 2000. Have two perfectly good computers and three good phones that were no longer supported. Apple seems to have been leaving me behind for some time.
Yes, the reader works fine, it's the issue with the reader communicating with the phone or the app. Abbot claimed this same issue 2 years ago when iOS 16 came out.
It took them quite a while to get it to work with iOS 16.
I would say whatever works for you or what you are comfortable working with is what you should use, I'm just trying to inform you of the issues that Abbot has had in the past and let you make your decisions based on this information.
Dexcom also makes glucose meters and no issues with the iPhone. It may be time to switch devices.
I’m not sure. My older brother is 75, diabetic and his iPhone 16 Pro on iOS 18.1.1 works fine with his sensor/module or whatever it’s called. He said it was seamless just downloaded updated app and it continues to work. The reason I asked is I see these kind of posts all the time and at my age, a lot of my friends and relatives are diabetic.
Just maybe, Libre isn’t the solution for you. I couldn’t tell you. I’m not your doctor and it’s something that should be discussed with your primary care physician. Good luck.
You're welcome. I've been looking at glucose monitors myself, Abbot has been having issues for a couple of years now, I think Dexcom is the way to go.
Thanks for confirming the Dexcom was the one that worked for your BIL.
Dexcom is only compatible with 18.0.1 as listed on their website as most current compatibility.
However, reading about their system, I like the idea of getting an alert for high or low glucose in real time.
I sill have four months of Libre sensors left.
But I am going to put a call in tomorrow.
Thank you very much.
Will do. Another member posted about Dexcom, so far it looks better, gives automatic alerts for high and low events in realtime. the 14 day sensors are not monitored like that. Can't speak on the newest versions from Abbott. But Dexcom is already compatible with IOS 18.0.1, Abbot is still at 17.5.1. plus Dexcom works with Apple Watches, Abbott shows nothing for the watch.
I contacted them first. Looks like up to a year away from an update
I will try getting doc to change it.
I couldn’t remember the name my brother threw out about his sensor abd Dexcom was it. Thanks.
Good luck, if you feel up to it, I would like to hear the outcome. I've been looking into gluccose meters myself and would like to get as much info as I can on them and their compatability.
