I’m not receiving sound notifications when a new text message comes through.

I had this same problem. Chatted with Apple Support and they had me go to Settings>Accessibility>Face ID & Attention, and then turn off Attention Aware Features. This solved the problem for me.
Thanks for trying. I did the steps you listed above. I think that made it so the sound occurs when I send messages, but still no ‘ding’ notifications when new messages arrive. I was hoping the new iOS update would fix the issue, but it did not. Please let me know if you figure out a solution and I will do the same. Thanks again.
I spoke too soon. This worked for about an hour and then the sounds stopped playing.
Ok mine is working now… honestly not sure what changed from yesterday. I did go into the app and mess around with notifications again. I don’t know.
