iMac doesn’t start

Give this a try: unplug the power cord from the back of your Mac for about 15 seconds. Then plug in again and try to boot up. If it works that's an indication of a failing power supply. It also may shut down unexpectedly shortly thereafter.
If you have nothing happen (no lights, no sound no nothing) then there is a good chance the power supply has failed. If you see or hear something please click If your Mac doesn't start up all the way.

Sometimes it works to press and hold the power button. Have you tried that?
