the time of otp message was 06.52 am while the actual time in India was 8:50 pm

I have reset my iPhone.

Whether or not this is phishing, it seems your security could use an update, as two-step verification can block most shenanigans, and you will want that enabled.

More generally, WhatsApp is part of Meta, and any account issues or security concerns are best addressed to Meta WhatsApp support.

WhatsApp offers two-step verification as mentioned, and related account security features. Consider enabling added security.

And if you’ve been re-using passwords, any other re-use can be compromised just as soon as one is compromised.

Your WhatsApp security was seemingly inadequate, and was compromised.

Whether that compromise was due to passwords re-use, or you got phished and with no two-factor authentication, or whatever else happened here, nobody here knows.

Nobody here has access to your Meta WhatsApp credentials, or data, or to any Meta WhatsApp logs.

I would suspect any message you received that was addressed as "Dear Student" is a phishing attempt trying to scare you into thinking a purchase was made on your account. They usually include a contact number to call them and want your personal/financial information.
