Message saying my "Device Hacked" poped up when clicked on safefrom.net while browsing

I was browsing and clicked on safefrom.net and then the url changed to website.crash and then a message popped up saying that I was hacked. I didn’t click on anything in that site. Is that just a scam? I have been really paranoid about it and I would like some relief.

Yes, it’s a scam.

It is an ad designed to scare you into buying useless software.

It is a scam and you have not been hacked. The website you were visiting was paid to send that message to you. It happens frequently when the website is considered less than legitimate.
