MIL watch band release button is stuck and consequently the band, making her unable to change it. There was some debris around it, very minor, that we removed, then used some alcohol to clean up. No luck. The other button works just fine.

Did you try to rinse it with warm water under a faucet?
Try to push the stuck button gently during this procedure, and make sure to enable the Water Lock before, so water can be expelled after that more easily from the openings.
It seems like that the button is stuck. You might need to set up hardware service for your watch at the Genius Bar I am afraid
