New Watch Daily Battery Life

I would like to buy my spouse an Apple watch for Christmas. We wear our fitness watches now 24/7 so how often we have to charge is important. Our Fitbits and Amazfits only need to be charged every few days, usually when we are in the shower.

If Apple only has an 18 hour daily battery life, I do not see being able to wear 24/7 to track activity and sleep.

Is Apple Watch not a good fit for what we want?

TIA

EVERYDAY‼️

If you do not charge it every day you run the risk of depleting the battery critically low and reducing the life of the battery as Li-Ion batteries do not like being totally drained.

The Series 10 is rated at 18 hours of battery life. It will last longer in the beginning, as there needs to be extra life as the battery degrades over time. Do not push it, as you will just shorten long term the battery life.

If you are going for 24/7 then using the provided charging cable an magnetic puck, plus an 18 to 20 watt or higher power source you supply, you can do a fast charge while getting ready for bed, and do another fast charge while getting ready in the morning.

Before and after bed is good, your time in the bathroom will generally involve soap, which can damage the water seals, so sitting on the charger is a nice safe place for the Apple Watch.

I successfully moved from Fitbit to the Apple Watch and have no problem with battery life. I wear my watch all day and night, taking it off to charge while making coffee in the morning and getting ready to start my day. In my experience, the charge lasts longer than 18 hours. This is my second Apple Watch so I've been doing this for several years. Wearing the Apple Watch offers so many other benefits. I'm happy I made the change.

I wear mine virtually all day. I place it on the charger when I get out of bed in the morning and go about my routine, shower, shave, get dressed, have a cup of coffee, then put it back on. I place it back on the charger in the evening after dinner and cleaning up, while I watch whatever show is on the agenda that day, then put it back on when I go to bed.

No problems.

Things I do with my GPS Only Series 10 Apple Watch:

• It tells time, date, day of the week

• Every iPhone alarm, appears on my wrist, where you can acknowledge it, dismiss it, etc…

• I like the iPhone 3rd party “Alarmed” app (http://yoctoville.com), for my alarms

• Ring.com door bell can display a static image on the Apple Watch

• Weather (this gets used a lot)

• MyRadar 3rd party app will display radar image and send weather alerts

• Rain Alarm 3rd party app will display a moving radar image

• Make/Receive phone calls

• Make/Receive FaceTime audio calls

• Use Walkie-Talkie to other Apple Watches anywhere on the planet

• Silence phone ringing by pressing the digital crown (great for SPAM calls)

• Send & receive iMessages

• Send & receive SMS TEXT

• Say “Hey Siri, 14 and a half minute timer”

• Say “Hey Siri, remind me when I get home to do xyz”

• Say “Hey Siri, message my wife/husband/Susan/George/etc…”

• Say “Hey Siri, start Outdoor Walk”

• Say “Hey Siri, end workout”

• Say “Hey Siri, find my iPhone”

• Say “Hey Siri, flashlight”

• Use a 3rd party garage door opener app and device (such as MyQ)

• You can check your calendar

• Read your email

• If you need to take an iPhone picture where you cannot see the screen, use Apple Watch Camera app as a view finder/shutter release

• Built-in Tides app, or you can get a 3rd party Ocean’s Tide app for beach visits

• Hand washing reminder and timer

• Unlock your Mac (I do this several times a day)

• Unlock your iPhone when you are wearing a mask

• Track your exercise and physical activities

Since my Wife got her Apple Watch, we have been able to reliably iMessage each other, as she never keeps here iPhone on her person.

If my Apple Watch was lost, stolen, or broken, I would order a replacement as fast as possible, as I would miss it so much.
