Bluetooth Pairing Unsuccessful: 'MacBook Pro' is not supported

I have had my devices paired for a long time, suddenly I am getting bluetooth error "Pairing Unsuccessful. 'MacBook Pro' is not supported" ... I am running Mac OS 15.1.1 and iOS 18.1.1 ... why will they suddenly not pair?


iPhone 12 - iOS 18.1.1 ... up to date

MacBook Pro 13" - OS 15.1.1 ... up to date

The Mac and the iPhone do not pair in the common sense, as you would pair headphones with the iPhone. They never have.


As long as the two devices are signed into the same Apple ID Account and have Bluetooth turned on they should communicate properly with your iCloud data and sync your Contacts, Calendars and Email. The Mac will need to have Wi-Fi enable as well.
