Locked out of Macbook Pro after incorrect password
my wife and i share a macbook each with a login password
I miss entered my password and now locked out
my wife still can use her account and open the macbook

An option you might try if your wife's user account has admin privileges is have her login and go to System Settings > Users & Groups. Click the Info icon ⓘ next to your account name and change the password there.
