Cursor problems since Sequoia upgrade

Since upgrading to Sequoia, my cursor is not working properly. It stops briefly as I move it, and I have to wiggle the mouse or trackpad to get it going again. It also happens when I'm typing - it stops, then catches up. This happens regardless of whether I'm using my internal or external mouse, keyboard, display. I can "fix" it by re-starting my computer, but it doesn't last, especially if I leave it for a long period. I'm using a 2020 13" Macbook Pro M1, OS 15.1.1, with an Acer K243Y external display

Have you shut down and restarted more than once since your "upgrading to Sequoia"— highly recommended.

no resolve—

A SafeBoot Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support will sort many anomalies

Does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled temporarily.

Login and test. Reboot as normal and test. Caches get rebuilt automatically.

I was having a somewhat similar issue with my cursor misbehaving. I was able to successfully resolve the issues with my cursor by turning off the "Shake mouse pointer to locate" option in System Settings.

This option is found by going to "Accessibility" then "Display". Scroll until you see the "Pointer" options. If this option is already turned off for you, try turning it on then off to see if that fixes the issue. I'm including a relevant screenshot for reference.

Thanks for your reply. It does help for a while to re-start my computer, though it has always reverted to the behavior. I am unable to start up in Safe mode, though I don't know why - I never set a firmware password. I'm using a 2020 Intel Mac. I have ordered a VGA-USB cord to see if that helps - it's supposed to arrive this afternoon and I'll post the results after I've tried it.

Again, thanks for paying attention and for your reply.
