Best artwork manipulation for an iMac

Good afternoon guys, are used to use a program it's no longer available that would let me manipulate artwork by adding or removing items, changing color, and inserting type lines at different angles, including a circle around a piece of artwork. Is anybody out there know the best FREE or inexpensive program that I can use that will allow me to do this. Any information would help. I'm really not sure how I will receive your comments other than you can. I used to do this a lot until I had my stroke and was not involved in doing anything for the last couple years during my recovery. So anything that you may have to help me update my abilities to do this work for my church would be greatly appreciated. Hope you all are having a blessed day and I look forward to hearing from you.

Photos will do much of what you want and it comes free with every Mac. Text and lines can are added via the Markup feature.

I started out using Adobe Photoshop but when it's no longer was compatible with the system I was running I switched to Adobe Photoshop Elements for Mac, which is a one time purchase with free updates until the next version is released. I'm currently using PSE 2020. The current version, 2025 is a 3 year license and after 3 years it will stop working. 👎

Gimp is another app that can do what you want and it's free.

Another top app is Infinity Photo. It's also a one time purchase with lifetime updates. It's on sale at 50% off. I haven't used it but they do have a demo version available that you can try.

Another app to consider is GraphicConverter. It's user interface is not intuitive.

Disclaimer: I have a definite bias towards PSE as I've been using it so long I know where all the tools are, what they do and how to use them.
