Blurry Display on MacBook Pro 14''
Yesterday while I was doing university work on my M1 Pro MacBook Pro 14’’, the screen suddenly turned black. I noticed that the brightness control still worked and if I connected the MacBook to an external display it worked just fine. I tested everything that I could, camera, sound, processor, everything seems to be working as usual, but the display isn’t. The thing is, the display is not completely black, I can see blurred lines on it, where there should be icons on my desktop. I tried everything that is listed on the apple support page to fix the issue, as it seemed to be a software problem. I tried rebooting the systems multiple times, even on safe mode, I tried reinstalling the macOS, and it didn’t work. I also ran diagnostics and it said that could be a problem with the camera, but my camera is working fine, I tested it. The weird thing is that sometimes, when turning on the computer, the apple logo shows on the screen normally, and after a while the screen gets blurry again. I took it to an authorized service provider yesterday, as my city doesn’t have an Apple store, and they said that they could only check the computer with a scheduled time slot, but if the issue was on the screen, they would have to replace the whole top part of the computer, and it would cost me 8000 reais (Brazilian currency), which is about 1300 US dollars, as my warranty is over already (I bought the computer almost 2 years ago). I also talked to the Brazilian Apple Support team last night, and they told me that I had done everything that they would recommend me to do, so the only remaining thing is to submit it to an evaluation by the authorized service provider, which is paid in my city. I researched online to see if this problem was common, and noticed that a lot of people have been complaining about this same problem on apple forums and on reddit, a lot of these people had m1 and m1 pro MacBooks. I noticed that this problem occurred on older models as well, and those were recalled because it was a factory issue. I wonder if this is happening again and starting to show up lately on the M1 MacBook models. I tried finding a way to e-mail Apple Support about this issue so that maybe they would consider recalling this model and covering the expanses of the screen repair, because for a computer with almost two years of use, that was really well-cared for, a problem like this shouldn't happen so often. I could only send them a feedback, but it has limited characters on the message. Anyone knows what could be done so that Apple considers recalling these models or at least analyses this case? Because it is definitely not normal and the costumers shouldn't have to pay for this kind of repair.
