I used the edit button for the first time to delete my list of favorites (frequently called phone numbers) and reinstalled those I wanted, but can no longer delete or move any names. Only the + sign is there, but no "edit" nor the dots on the side! How do I get it back?

Try and Force Restart your iPhone EXACTLY as shown below and see whether that resolves the issue:
Once the above process has been successfully completed, then check to Edit your contacts again in the Phone app.
