How do I remote into my Mac from my iPad on my own network?

I have seen this question asked again and again and there are many (paid) ways to do it, in addition to using Chrome Remote desktop. However, the easiest way that is free and doesn’t require any extra software to be installed on the Mac is to simply use the RVNC app on the iPad. Use Bonjour to select your Mac (after enabling remote access on it) and then simply connect to it from your iPad with RVNC.
