Apple can access my privacy data but I can’t?

Recently I've been having trouble with Apple Music pushing me notifications about new music from artists I've never listened to. I called support and their engineers responded by claiming I did indeed like all these artists, and that's why I'm getting the notifications.

Naturally I requested a copy of my media services data on privacy.apple.com and after waiting days longer than the estimated time, I eventually get an email saying they could not provide the data I requested.

Why does Apple have instant, on-demand access to my personal data, but I do not? Can anyone shed some light on this process to help me explain how Apple's privacy data request process works?

iPhone 14 Pro, iOS 18

A few days later and a call to Apple Support, and still no movement on my request, nor any helpful explanation of the process, let alone an explanation of why Apple employees enjoy on-demand access to my privacy data, but I do not. Hoping someone with some insight eventually sees this post.

No one from Apple will see this post. While it's possible that someone else in these forums has had a similar issue, I wouldn't count on it.

I wasn't able to see your entire post on my iOS device, so forgive me for not replying to all your information. I've attempted to request the privacy data a second time, but the Apple Media Services option that you've highlighted in red no longer exists for me. It's not that it's greyed out - it just no longer exists.

And the Music Notification Settings you've referred to is the thing that's been giving me the trouble. I activated the Apple Music notifications option, after which I've begun receiving notifications not only for artists I've liked, but also for artists I've never expressed an interest in or listened to. I'm attempting to retrieve my Media Services Information so that I can dig into my history on my own to figure out if I can uncover the issue.

I hope that clarifies what I'm trying to achieve. Thanks again.
