'Another device on the network is using your computer’s IP address' error

Trying to access my google mesh network from my work mac (after returning from vacation) I consistently get this error. I have powered down my ipad and my personal mac and turned off WiFi on 2 iphones so that this is the only apple device in the building, but I still get the error. I have also cycled power on the router. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The problem is the router is attempting to use the same IP address for 2 different devices. To fix this please:

  • Renew your IP address:
    • Go to your network settings on your computer.
    • Select your network and choose "Renew DHCP Lease".
    • This will ask your router to reassign a new IP address to your device.

That should take care of it. Your network administrator should know how to do this. By the way, that is not a Mac OS issue but a local issue in your network!!!
