Unable to add Gmail account on to my iPad

The gmail is in the iphone, but never transferred. As I try to add the account, from settings/apps the google, yahoo etc show up, when I click on the gmail, my gmail address auto fills, then instead of allowing me to put in my password, it wants a passkey, and stops, will not go any further. The problem, I do not have a passkey and do not want a passkey, something else to loose in all my clutter, I'm 70+ and have no use for a passkey. What is the work around?

Perhaps you may try a different direction to just see about getting

Gmail to work from the Gmail App in iOS instead of an Apple app?

•Gmail - Email by Google on the App Store

or~ Sign in to Gmail - iPhone & iPad - Gmail Help - Google Help

My older iPad still works with a Gmail App, independent of iOS.

Although that seems contrary; there are two means to get email.

The iPadOS store or iOS store in your iDevice, should show Free

Gmail app; and that should work, once you figure how to use it.
