My hearing test keeps saying "unable to Connect to Airpods" even though they are connected

I am running the hearing test on an iPhone 12 Pro. AirPods Pro 2.0

Both are up to date on iOS/firmware

I keep trying the hearing test and run into the same "diagnostic" issue that many have reported. But when I am able to get past that, it goes to the opening questionnaire. I answer 3 questions, hit submit and I hear some periodic "whooshing" sounds coming from the AirPods, then it says "Unable to Connect to AirPods".

They are connected. If I try any other app, it properly plays through the AirPods. But I can't get past that error message.

Re-Pair these:

For get this Device and then par it back.

Troubleshooting AirPods Pairing:

Disable Bluetooth on all but one device — the one device you want to synchronize with these with.
