How do I disable "home bar" on my iPad Pro when connected to secondary screen?

Hello community,

I have an iPad Pro 12.9inch 5th gen. Just today I bought a screen

that connects via USB-C to it. This second screen I bought is not a

touchscreen, it is a simple display. (An Arzopa 15.6 inch mobile

display)

So displaying a picture works fine with the stage manager and the

"move to display" option, although I have not yet figured out how to

change the resolution and make the image full screen on the second

display. If you know, let me know, but my actual question however is a

different one: On the iPad itself as well as on the second screen, the

bar containing the basic apps is shown on the bottom. (Is it called the

home bar?) The bar where you can tap to go to iMessages, safari, apple

music, mail, calendar, photos, notes... you get the idea.

How do I disable this home bar on my second monitor? It kind of ruins the

presentation by being there on the second screen, and it is also

completely useless on the second screen since it isn't even a

touchscreen.

I already tried disabling the "App library" aswell as "Suggested and

recent apps" in dock, as there is an option for it. This disables about

half of the home bar (or dock, I really don't know what to call it),

but the apps mentioned above are still there. I do want the home bar to

be there on the iPad, I just don't want it on the second screen.

For your background info: I play pen & paper with a group, and I

have discovered the beauty of the iPad and cool apps to assist my

dungeon-mastering. I want to use the second monitor to show my players

pictures of characters, maps, scenery etc. instead of always turning my

iPad around and holding it up for everyone to see like I did until now.

If you didn't understand a word of this, don't worry, just imagine I

want to use the second screen as a display for the audience to see

pictures on.

Please help! Thank you very much in advance

With your external display connected and recognised by your iPad, you will see additional settings:

Settings > Multitasking & Gestures > [Multitasking]

  • Recent Apps - enable/disable as required
  • Dock - enable/disable as required

While the external display is connected to your iPad, you will also see additional controls and settings for the external display.

With your iPad and Magic Keyboard for iPad connected, you will have both the keyboard and trackpad that are required to interact with Apps.

You’ll need to review the trackpads operating gestures - as these differ in some respects from those of the iPad touch-screen. You will find the majority of gestures illustrated here:

You refer to the Dock - and are presumably using the Stage Manager mode to show an extended desktop.

When using an external monitor with your iPad Pro, unless you are using an Apple Magic Keyboard (with an integral trackpad), will ideally need to use an external pointing device - such as an Apple Magic Trackpad or compatible Mouse. For full access to Apps running on the external display, you will also require an external keyboard.

Without a trackpad/mouse and external keyboard, you'll not be able to interact or provide input to Apps running on the external monitor.

The trackpad/mouse/keyboard provides seamless control of your iPad's "windowed" Stage Manager environment across both the iPad and external monitor screen. Without these items - and using only the iPad's touch-screen - Stage Manager has very limited usefulness.

The iPad User Guide is rich source of information about iPad and iPadOS. Here is a direct link to the section that describes Stage Manager:
