Why are you having a hard time? What happens when you try exactly.

Without knowing what issue you are having it's hard to provide specific help.

For general steps:

The 2015 iMac can update to macOS 12 Ventura but no further.

You can download the update from the Mac App Store.

If you are having specific issues, please clarify what those are.

The Software update on Sierra shows updates available for apps installed ion your Mac, or for your current version of macOS, but will not show updates t new macOS versions.

As I said, download the macOS installer as shown in the link provided above( it has links to macOS installers in the Mac App Store), to update your Mac to a new version of macOS. Either Ventura, or some other in between macOS version. High Sierra, Mojave, Catalina or Big Sur.

Do note, past Mojave, 32 but Apps are no longer supported and will no longer work. You will need to find 64 bit updates or replacements for your current apps.

I believe that you meant that you can update it to macOS 12 Monterey, but no further. Unfortunately, macOS 13 Ventura is "an update too far" for a 27" Late 2015 iMac.

Whoops!. You are correct. macOS 12 Monterey is the end of the road.

Good catch, thanks.
