Unable to download app on my MacBook Air running macOS Big Sur from App Store.

I'm completely new to Mac. I just bought a used early 2014 Mac Book Air. I've upgraded as far as I can to Big Sur. It won't let me download app from the App Store. I guess it's too old to update further? Is there any way possible to fix it to download apps at all. I can't afford a newer version at the present time so thats out. Is there any other way?

Thanks in advance,

Amanda

What is the minimum OS supported by the app in the App Store?

If the minimum OS supported is macOS 12.x+, then you are out of luck unless you previously "purchased" the app with your AppleID, unless the developer of the app also provides downloads from their website. Do not download any apps from any other website than the developer's own site or from the Apple App Store.

If you previously purchased the version of the app compatible with Big Sur with this AppleID, then you should be able to re-download the older version of the app by looking under "previous purchases".
