Final Cut Pro trying to access color definitions in the color palette

How can I save a color (in this case a text color in titles) for later use? I can set the color using the "Face" inspector's "Color" setting, which brings up the color palette, and can see the definition by hitting the down arrow in the inspector panel, but see no way to copy the color def nor a way to enter it later.

Thanks in advance for help with what is probably a dumb noob question.

Just like with any other application using the system color picker, you can drag any colors to the swatch at the bottom for reuse.
