Invisible text when writing YouTube comments in dark mode on Safari and Chrome

For some reason I can no longer see what I am writing if I comment on a YT video. The cursor moves but no text shows, I am assuming it is because the text color is dark. I am able to see my text if I switch to light mode, but this is a new bug because I have not had this issue before and have been using dark mode for Safari and with YT for years and the text was always white when I was typing. Tried all normal things to reset but none have worked. I am not sure where the issue lies since it is for both Chrome and Safari, so probably a YT thing but hoping someone else with a mac has found a solution.

I consider this a YouTube code failure. This bug has shown up in the past on other websites that allow Dark Mode. In those cases, it's the same workaround: Switch to "Appearance: Light". Then you get the same dark type, but you can see it on the white background. The white glare is annoying, but it's an interim fix. Complain to Google as this is THEIR problem.

I have no answer as to how to fix it, but I can say it didn’t happen to me until I updated to Mac 15.2. And it does the same on my iPad after updating to 18.2. I also run dark mode on everything and switched over to light mode to test it and still does it. There has to be an issue with the latest update as of 12-14-2024. Will have to wait until enough people report this issue before Apple releases an update to this.

My PC just started doing it as well. I'm using Firefox. Win 10 Pro. I can't see what I'm typing, but when I click "Comment" to submit it, I can then see the text. This is only in dark mode. In light mode everything is fine. I believe it all started after installing a Windows update yesterday. There appears to be another update waiting to screw something up. lol I'll update and see what that one does. Hopefully fixes it. Very strange both Apple and the latest Windows update did the same thing.

Update: just installed the latest update (.NET Framework) and it did not fix it.

I see the same. I also then tested on my 2019 iMac running Monterey and the same issue. I thought perhaps YouTube made some change although it all coincided when I updated to Sequoia 15.2 but then why with Monterey it was also the same issue? I guess I need to keep the light mode on when viewing YouTube for now, Also same issue using Firefox.

I have a MacBook Pro 2015 and same issue (Chrome& Safari) on YT when commenting videos. No solution yet but a very strange bug. The comment when clicking text box is greyed out (didn't notice before) but I can post my comment, just can't read along when making it. I really thought I was alone on this and couldn't find others. Thank you for posting and will inform when fix is in
