Sandisk iXpand flash C / USB A drive not recognized on iPad Air 11 inch 6th generation with M2 chip

Sandisk iXpand flash drive not recognized on iPad Air 11 inch 6th generation with M2 chip.

Have used lightning / USB A iXpand Go successfully to transfer photos with old iPad Pro 10.5 & iPhone 11.

New iXpand with USB A / C drive is not recognised. Took it back to store, technician told me that there is no C drive connection that will work with an M2 chip - yet!!

Is this correct?
