Can't find the redact tool on the preview tool bar on my MacBook Air running Sonoma

When I hit the shapes - rectangle or scribble - I get the popup that tells me to use the redact tool if I want to permanently remove the item. But I can't find the redact tool button. I've looked online and seen images of the tool bar with a redact button pointed out. But I don't have that button. But since I get told to use the redact tool, I'm assuming it must be somewhere. Apple M3 Sonoma 14.6.

First image is from https://www.macworld.com/article/344869/how-to-redact-text-in-a-pdf-with-the-preview-app-adobe-acrobat-and-pdfpen.html It shows where the redact button is

Second picture is screenshot from my computer in Finder preview. I don't have that button. Suggestions?

The first one is from the Preview application.

The bottom one is from the Screenshots application, you know the little window that opens up when you take a screenshot.

The solution is to connect the two...

Press Command-Shift-5, then click Options and under Save To choose "Preview".

This makes it so when you take a screenshot will open it in Preview directly, so you can edit and save it anywhere, with the full power of the Preview application.

Thank you. That gave me enough clues to make a redaction that looks like it will stick.
The bottom image was a screenshot, but it was of the tool bar that came up when I highlighted a file in Finder, then pressed the space bar, which also gets you to a preview page.

Ah! I see, this is what Apple refers to as "Quicklook". I misunderstood the context, but I am glad you can get some useful information anyway.
