Numbers Addition Errors with Dropped Penny

Numbers is dropping a penny multiple times when adding a column or one row to another row in the column. Even when multiplying a number time the number of rows in the column.

If you want to round the actual value of the cell, not just the display, then use the ROUND() function:


For example, assume the cell D2 contains the underlying value 593.095


D2 is set to display to 2 decimal places, so displays as 593.10, even though the underlying value is different.


Set cell D3 to:


=D2 x 2


you get 1186.19 (twice the underlying value)


Set D3 to:


=ROUND(D2,2) x 2


you get 1186.20 because the cell D2 is rounded to two decimal places before it's multiplied.
