Perhaps you refer to the [sixth generation] iPad mini A17 Pro (a.k.a. IPad mini6).

Your iPad is designed to dissipate heat generated by its electronic components through its metal casing.

It’s common for an iPad to heat up when in use, especially with certain types of cases. High screen brightness and CPU-intensive applications can also contribute to increased heat generation.

The crucial aspect is that while your iPad may become quite warm during normal usage, it shouldn’t become uncomfortably hot to handle. If your iPad feels too hot to hold, take it to the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store. The technicians can thoroughly examine and test your iPad for any faults.

My apologies. I mistyped (through force of habit). I was in fact referring to the [seventh generation] iPad mini A17 Pro. Other than that, everything within my reply was as intended.

All recent models of iPad, now thinner than before, appear to run warmer than their forebears. If you have any concerns whatsoever, you would be best advised to have your iPad checked at the Genius Bar of an Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) - as previously suggested.
