How to fix Mail download issues on iOS 18.1.2?

Well folks, even after downloading and installing iOS 18.1.2, my mail will not download until the phone is plugged in, on WiFi and locked.

someone please explain to me

1.)if this is a bug or intentional

2.) what could possibly be the logic in ensuring I miss important emails because I happen to be in the field working….

last I checked, I have given zero permission for anyone on earth or otherwise permission to limit my communications.

What are the fetch settings for Mail?

Do you mean iOS 18.2?

Who is your email provider? Have you tried deleting the account and re-adding it?

Same problem. Often when I'm trying to look at my inbox, I get a message that is not gonna download my messages until my phone is locked and charging; other times it just takes a few minutes to download a two paragraph message. I set it to push.
