macbook pro stuck in restart loop & i cannot figure out how to get into safe mode

after removing my bootcamp partition, my macbook was working fine, however this morning when i opened it it was stuck in a restart loop & asking me to enter my password to unlock the disk "macintosh hd" (entering the password makes it restart again, etc etc)

i found a question on here by someone with an identitcal problem to me, and they said booting into safemode fixed the issue. i cannot figure out how to boot into safemode. my macbook uses apple silicon, & instructions online say to hold the power button until options load, but when i hold the power button it just shuts off :( please please help me, am i doing something wrong?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 14.5
